Doug Hiser has the enthusiasm and sense of wonder of a child, the body of an athlete, a sensitive compassionate heart, and the resilience to keep getting up when life crashes over him like an avalanche. Doug Hiser is a dynamic speaker and lecturer, a teacher, a passionate conservationist, loves animals and trees, and as much as he dislikes concrete and cities he has found himself helpless to live too near the sprawling city of Houston, Texas.

Hiser is also a Poetry Slam winner and producer, a professional artist, a football, track and soccer coach in public schools. He plays every sport imaginable, and was a competitive bodybuilder for ten years. In 1992, he was on the American Gladiators television show. Doug Hiser is a prolific wildlife artist, producing over 100 new pieces of art each year. He eventually wants to paint and draw as many of the species of animals on the planet as he can in his lifetime. He is currently working on a book from A to Z of unsual animal close-ups portraits.
